BIOGRAPHY
Professor Angela Simpson is Pro Vice Chancellor and Executive Dean Faculty Health Medicine and Society
She has responsibility for education and research in Nursing, Midwifery, Allied Health, Psychology, Social Work and Medical Sciences.
In addition to leading the School she is also a member of the University Senior Executive Team.
Angela is experienced in designing, delivering and quality assuring health professional education programmes. As an advocate for the co-production and delivery of curricula, she believes education in subjects related to health, medicine and society make an important contribution to cultural, economic and social wellbeing. As such, she works in close partnership with a range of practice partners and stakeholders in the design and delivery of the programmes delivered across the faculty.
Angela has a collaborative leadership style, valuing the importance of diversity in both higher education and professional practice.
She was appointed from University of York in England, where she previously held a range of academic leadership roles in the Faculty of Health Sciences, including Deputy Head of Department of Health Science & Head of Nursing, Midwifery and Professional Education.
Angela started her academic career at University of York in 1998 as a lecturer/practitioner in Mental Health Nursing.
Prior to her university appointment she worked for 11 years as a Registered Mental Nurse (RMN)
