I am a founder member of the Institute for Gender Studies at the University of Chester. My research interests relate to gender violence with a specific focus on Female Genital Mutilation. I have presented research papers in these areas at national and international conferences and organised a National Symposium on the challenges presented by Female Genital Mutilation in 2014.

I also have a research interest in emerging gene editing technology such as CRISPR
