BIOGRAPHY

Dr Claire Lucas is Head of Medical Sciences at the University of Chester Medical School. In this role, she provides strategic, academic and research leadership across Medical Science programmes, with responsibility for curriculum development, assessment oversight, quality assurance, staff leadership, and student experience. She works closely with academic, professional services, and external partners to ensure high quality, inclusive, and innovative education that prepares students for careers in healthcare, science, and research.

 

Dr Claire Lucas is an established researcher with expertise in biomarkers predictive of clinical outcome in leukaemia, with a particular focus on chronic myeloid leukaemia. Her research has been driven by a strong commitment to improving patient stratification, prognostication, and personalised approaches to treatment through robust biomarker discovery and validation.

 

With over 15 years’ experience working as a NHS Scientist, Claire brings a clinically grounded perspective to her research, ensuring that her work remains relevant, translational, and aligned with real world healthcare needs. Her research has contributed to advancing understanding of disease biology and risk assessment in leukaemia, supporting improved clinical decision making and patient outcomes.
