BIOGRAPHY

Claire Norton has principle responsibility for the Library Academic Liaison team (ALL), Content, Collections, Discovery and Research team (CCDR), and the Digital Capabilities and Technologies team (DCTT) within the department of Learning and Information Services. As Assistant Director, Claire has responsibility for the strategic direction of the teams to support the learning, teaching and research agenda within the institution. Claire works with the teams within her remit to lead and communicate the vision, plans and proposals for the development of high quality, high performance services to the University community. This includes the management of systems and staff to exploit the benefits of the digital environment within the information sector, and development of digital capabilities. Claire’s role includes overarching responsibility for the library research team who have a central role within the research cycle. The team are responsible for curating the central record of researcher outputs which are showcased via the institutional repository – ChesterRep, assist the Research and Knowledge Exchange Directorate in preparing outputs for the Research Excellence Framework, and provide advocacy for open access and management of research information. The team have an essential role establishing the integration between the University Repository and the new Current Research Information System (CRIS). As part of her current priorities Claire is working with the CCDR team to review wider library management systems infrastructure to support the information needs of staff and students.
