BIOGRAPHY
Cybele is a lecturer in the Division of Communications, Screen and Performance in the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. Cybele specialises in television/video production, and since joining the university in 2018 has taught across a range of undergraduate programmes including the BA in Media and Television Production.
Cybele’s career began in the colourful world of Children’s Television in the 1990s, cutting her teeth on shows like Wacaday, Top Banana and Wac-90. On these shows, she produced and directed VT features and got up to all sorts such as flying across the English Channel in a hot air balloon with Michaela Strachan and kissing the Blarney Stone with Timmy Mallet. She went on to develop an accomplished and award-winning career in broadcast television spanning 25 years and covering a variety of genres such as observational documentary, live studio, light entertainment, archive documentary, lifestyle and daytime and music television. Cybele has a proven track record in producing and directing programmes for BBC1, BBC2, BBC3, CBBC, ITV2, CH4, CH5 and Sky1. Highlights have been; The Joy of Curry BBC2, Stars Behind Bars CH5, I Love a 70’s Christmas and the award-winning The Return of ‘Allo 'Allo! BBC2. In 2009, Cybele produced two entertainment documentaries for Peter Kay and CH4, Peter Kay: Raider of the Pop Charts Parts 1 and 2. Cybele has previously lectured at the University of Salford at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels across TV and Media Production.
