Celia undertook her nurse training in Newcastle-upon-Tyne and qualified as a Registered Nurse (adult) in 1984. Celia is currently employed as a senior lecturer in the Faculty of Health, Medicine and Society. Celia is based at University Centre Birkenhead, Marriss House. As part of the Batchelor of Nursing (Hons) degree Celia delivers pre-registration nursing programme education. As a registered nurse Celia has held posts in ophthalmics and cardiology in primary and secondary care. For 15 years Celia specialised in coronary care nursing in 3 large, teaching hospitals. Following this Celia spent 5 years in primary care developing cardiac services, delivering face to face patient consultations and in the development and delivery of cardiovascular education session for primary care staff.
