RESEARCH INTERESTS

Dr Daryn Egan-Simon's research interests are centered around the integration of arts with history and citizenship education, aiming to craft intellectually stimulating, culturally enriching, and educationally transformative experiences for young learners. He has contributed to a project funded by the Arts Council Wales, which pioneered the teaching of working-class history through the creative arts in school. Furthermore, he played a key role in a collaborative effort between the University of Chester and the Grosvenor Museum. This interdisciplinary project sought to leverage historical artefacts as tools to expand cultural horizons and enhance creative writing skills among primary and secondary school students. Daryn's doctoral research explored the impact of using film as a pedagogical device and site for learning in Social Justice-orientated Citizenship Education.
