BIOGRAPHY

Professional Profile

I am a Lecturer in Adult Nursing at the University of Chester, based at the Wheeler Campus, where I teach across undergraduate and postgraduate nursing programmes. I am a registered Adult Nurse (NMC), a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), and hold a PGCE, a Master's degree, and a PhD, having successfully passed my PhD viva voce.

With over 20 years of clinical and academic experience across medical, surgical and higher education settings, I am passionate about preparing the future nursing workforce through innovative, evidence-based teaching. My interests include acute adult care, clinical skills, simulation-based education, and creating engaging learning environments that enable students to thrive.

In addition to my teaching responsibilities, I contribute to curriculum development, student recruitment and widening participation initiatives. I am actively involved in assessing international applications and APEL applications, supporting fair and robust admissions processes. I also work collaboratively with colleagues to enhance programme quality and the overall student experience.

My research focuses on the development of innovative, non-invasive diagnostic technologies, with particular interests in breath analysis, biomarker discovery and analytical chemistry. My doctoral research investigated the optimisation of ion chromatography for detecting organic acids as potential biomarkers of gastric disease.

I am committed to delivering an inclusive, student-centred educational experience and advancing nursing education through scholarship, collaboration and research-informed practice.
