RESEARCH INTERESTS

My research primarily focuses on physical behaviour and health, especially how non-exercise activity can be optimised to promote healthy ageing. My PhD project looked at a novel intervention which replaced sedentary time (e.g. sitting or lying down) with light activity (e.g. light walking) in older adults and examined changes in various markers of health, with a special focus on changes in musculoskeletal health. I also have a keen interest in ultrasound, resistance training, falls prevention, socio-economic status, and exercise nutrition. Recently I have been getting involved in pedagogic research looking at how effective point of care ultrasound is for teaching musculoskeletal anatomy and physiology.
