BIOGRAPHY

Dr Jean Evers is the Deputy Head of the Public Health, Sport and Wellbeing Division. She has worked in Higher Education since 2004 and brings extensive experience from a wide range of NHS acute and public health settings. Jean is an NMC Registered Adult Nurse, a qualified nurse prescriber, and a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (Health Visiting).

Jean has always been deeply committed to professional education, valuing its importance both personally and professionally. She has a particular interest in supporting inter‑professional practice learning and in nurturing high‑quality learning environments for healthcare students.

Her early career as a Ward Sister sparked a strong interest in post‑registration education, as she led staff development initiatives designed to enhance patient outcomes. Jean later moved into Health Visiting, working across diverse community settings and supporting both post‑registration and medical students in their practice learning.

Driven by her passion for developing others, Jean transitioned into a Higher Education practice development role. In this capacity, she contributed to the quality assurance of practice learning and taught undergraduate nursing students, post‑registration practitioners, and postgraduate health visiting cohorts. Throughout her academic career, she has held a variety of leadership roles, most recently serving as Head of Department for Public Health and Well-being before retiring and returning part‑time to her current role as Deputy Head of Public Health, Sport and Wellbeing Division.
