Professor of Environmental Organisational Sustainability and Associate Dean (Research and Innovation), where I lead the Centre for Research into Environmental and Sustainable Transitions (CREST) and hold strategic oversight of REF 2029 across six Units of Assessment. My research portfolio, recently securing over £4.2m in UKRI funding, spans climate adaptation, water resilience, and life cycle assessment, delivered in partnership with universities, government agencies, and industry. My work connects research to real-world impact: from place-based partnerships supporting rural communities adapting to flooding and climate change, to leading a five-year ERDF programme that helped over 150 SMEs bring environmental products and services to market, strengthening regional innovation and economic resilience. I work across academic and professional services communities to translate research into impact and build collaborative partnerships between universities, industry, and government. My earlier career at Cranfield University built deep expertise and a track record of trusted research in sustainability, material criticality, and risk within defence and security contexts. Secondments to dstl, DCDC, and GCHQ, alongside published work for UK military intelligence services and contributions to DEF-STAN-00-051, shaped a grounded understanding of how environmental and geopolitical pressures inform strategic decision-making expertise I continue to bring to collaborative research and policy engagement. Current collaborations with the Environmental Security Research Group at King's College London, NORRAG, and the Geneva Graduate Institute explore climate security, sustainability governance, and academic freedoms. Alongside my academic role, I serve as UK Head of Delegation for ISO 14020, advise BSI on environmental standards, and hold visiting professorships in China and India
