BIOGRAPHY

Began nurse training as a mature student in 2009 and developed an early interest in public health.  This led to completion of the Specialist Community Public Health Nurse qualification and subsequent work as a health visitor.  Later moved into health protection, working within a local health protection team and more recently supported the delivery of routine screening and immunisation programmes across the North West.

Joined the University of Chester in 2022, initially working on a project to enhance quality and capacity of social care placements for pre registration nursing students.  Currently working as Practice Education Facilitator for the MBChB programme 3 days per week providing support for both placement providers and medical students.  In this role, Kathy is a key point of contact for matters relating to placements, students support within practice settings, and liaison between the University and placement partners.  Students are encouraged to contact her regarding support and any concerns relating to learning experiences in practice environments.
