Nellie's research interest is in pre-analytical blood sample errors with great emphasis, on avoidable pre-analytical blood sample haemolysis causes. During her PhD Nellie conducted extensive research in the subject area using systematic review and quantitative methods. The work led to framing a causal pathway and the development of an evidence-based staff education and training package. Nellie's research interest is extended to 'vulnerable groups' more especially in the care and services of older people. Nellie has reviewed research manuscripts in high-impact journals such as the International Journal of Nursing Studies and conference abstracts. Nellie has also worked as a research nurse and coordinator in the UK and Malawi, running academic and commercial clinical trials and supervising clinic activities. Nellie is competent in using Nvivo software in literature review and qualitative data analysis; Covidence in extracting evidence and Endnote and RefWork in managing references.
