BIOGRAPHY
Peter joined the University of Chester in October 2025 as a Professor of Medical Education (MBChB) after more than 14 years at Edge Hill University. During his time at Edge Hill University Medical School he led Psychology for Medicine teaching and delivery, the Foundation Year for Medicine programme, Admissions and Selection, and various staff development initiatives and committees in Teaching & Learning (T&L). He was also instrumental in overseeing aspects of the General Medical Council (GMC) approval/accreditation processes for a new medical programme.
Peter is passionate about widening participation in medicine and has won various awards for leading initiatives in this area. Awards have included an Advance HE National Teaching Fellowship and the Association for Medical Education (ASME) New Leaders Award. He is also and executive board member for the Medical Schools Council (MSC) Selection Alliance and has chaired national networks that promote and support widening participation in medicine.
Peter is a chartered psychologist with the British Psychological Society.
