Ruth is an Associate Professor of Popular Music and Course Leader for the BA Popular Music Performance programme at the University of Chester. A musicologist committed to developing her research profile, she has presented her work at numerous international conferences and symposia, alongside delivering public lectures and talks. She was the keynote speaker at the “New Perspectives in Popular Music Research: Changes and Turmoil” conference at the University of Agder, Norway. Her media contributions include appearances on BBC Radio 4 and programmes on BBC Two and BBC Four. In addition to delivering modules at both undergraduate and postgraduate level, she undertakes advisory work for Universities including the Open University, and is the external examiner for the Modern Music Foundation Degree at North West Regional College, Northern Ireland.
