Samantha’s research interests focus on simulation-based education in healthcare, with particular emphasis on the design, delivery, and evaluation of simulated patient–based learning. They are especially interested in the use of simulated patients to support the development of communication skills, professionalism, empathy, and learner confidence within undergraduate medical education.

Additional interests include the use of immersive learning approaches, including trauma-based simulation, moulage, and the integration of emerging technologies such as virtual and augmented reality, to enhance realism, authenticity, and experiential learning within simulated patient encounters.
