Seóna came to the University of Chester and completed the MSc Public Health Nutrition. Following which, she worked in community public health and community nutrition working with local authorities, various stakeholders and communities here in the North West of England. Seóna has a keen interest in maternal nutrition, breastfeeding and early years and is working towards completing her PhD in the area of breastfeeding within the Chester Medical School.

As a Senior Lecturer in Nutrition and Health, Seóna teaches on both undergraduate and postgraduate courses within the school. Seóna enjoys bringing her practical experience and knowledge into the classroom; and working with students to further marry their understanding of the practical application and theoretical understanding of nutrition and health.

Seóna continues to work with local authorities and community organisations in supporting them with qualitative research service evaluations in the field of food poverty, weight management and infant feeding. In addition, Seóna works with the Association for Nutrition in assessing higher level education programmes looking to achieve or re-new AfN accreditation.
