I have been a nurse for 40 years and have a wide range of experiences including medical, surgical, gastroenterology, occupational health nursing, practice nursing, care of the older person and Royal Airforce. I have been employed in higher education for 24 years and teach from levels 4 to 8. I have been a program leader for undergraduate and post graduate courses and these include MSc and BSc Leadership and management, MSc and BSc Primary care nursing and MSc and BSc pre-registration nursing. My teaching areas include research methods, leadership, compassion agenda, Diabetes, practical skills, practice nursing, physiology, pharmacology, compassionate care. My research areas are around compassionate care. I have a BN 2:1 Nursing, MSc Nursing and Professional Doctorate. I was honoured to win the RCN nurse of the Year award in 2016 for innovation in teaching in Wales with compassionate care strategies. I won a CAID award for innovation in 2022. My addition interests include acting which I have been lucky enough to use at the University of Chester during simulation. I also write poetry which I have been able to integrate into teaching activities. I am honoured to work with an amazing team at University of Chester who continually sustain my motivation and desire to educate future generations of nurses. I have also executive produced a fim called Sutures which has won 3 awards for best film and best director at international and national film festivals. I wrote a business case and securred University funding for the film which has been used educate student nurses in Chester and Edinburgh.
