BIOGRAPHY

Daniel is a Senior Lecturer in Food Science and Technology at the School of Allied and Public Health. He has over 25 years of experience in higher education, including teaching, mentoring, research, and administration. Daniel holds a PhD in Food Microbiology and Food Safety from the Universiti Putra Malaysia, MSc Meat Science and Technology from University of Bristol and BSc (Hons) Agricultural Sciences (specialising in Animal Sciences) from the University of Science and Technology (currently Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology). After his PhD, he took up a Post-Doctoral Research Associate at the Department of Chemical Engineering and Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Loughborough University, working on a collaborative project looking into the potential application of non-thermal atmospheric plasmas in the decontamination of fresh foods and inactivation of bacteria pathogens, experimental investigation and theoretical scale-up studies for the use of non-thermal atmospheric plasmas in the food industry. The project was funded by Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA), Institute of Food Research (IFR – currently Quadram Institute Bioscience) and industrial partners.

 

Before joining the University of Chester, Daniel was a Senior Lecturer at Manchester Metropolitan University, UK, where he led the MSc Food Science and Innovation programme and was involved in teaching, programme management, curriculum development and research.
