BIOGRAPHY

With more than 20 years of experience as a HCPC Registered Biomedical Scientist, I have built a specialised career in Haematology and Blood Transfusion Science. My expertise spans advanced diagnostic techniques, laboratory management, and clinical liaison, contributing to high standards of patient care and laboratory efficiency. For six of those years, I served as Deputy Laboratory Manager in Haematology across eight different hospital sites and various complex patient cohorts, where I played a key leadership role in service delivery, quality assurance, and staff development within a busy specialist hospital setting. I have been actively involved in teaching and mentoring, sharing my knowledge with students, Trainee Biomedical Scientists, and colleagues to support professional growth and promote best practices in laboratory science and career progression via IBMS Specialist and Registration Portfolios

My extensive laboratory experience coupled with four years in Higher Education Academia settings have given me a unique and informed insight into the relationship between professional NHS laboratory training and compentency, higher education, and career development. Here at Chester Medical School, we combine academic knowledge and 'Authentic Assessment' to enhance 'work-based learning' skills application to practice.

My career reflects a strong commitment to scientific excellence, patient safety, and continuous learning within the evolving field of biomedical science.
