BIOGRAPHY

Farah Tahmasebi is a Lecturer in Medical Sciences at the University of Chester, with a multidisciplinary background spanning genetics, microbiology, and biomedical sciences. Her academic and professional trajectory reflects a strong integration of research-led teaching, laboratory science, and applied diagnostics.

She began her doctoral research in Genetics, Behaviour and Microbiology at Liverpool John Moores University, where her work focused on biological systems and their underlying molecular and environmental interactions. Her research experience includes work within evolutionary epigenetics and model organisms, with particular emphasis on understanding microbiota-host interactions and adaptive biological responses.

Alongside her academic training, Farah has developed substantial expertise in biomedical diagnostics and laboratory quality systems, including ISO15189 and ISO9001 standards, as well as Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP). This background has enabled her to contribute to high-quality laboratory practice, data management, and analytical workflows within both research and clinical contexts.

Her professional experience encompasses data analysis and management in complex biological systems, alongside hands-on laboratory research and quality control roles. These combined skill sets position her at the intersection of experimental biology, translational science, and applied healthcare technologies.

At the University of Chester, Farah hopes to contribute to the delivery of Medical Sciences education, supporting undergraduate and potentially postgraduate teaching across biomedical and life science disciplines, predominantly specialising in genetics. Her teaching is informed by her research experience and commitment to clear scientific communication, fostering student engagement and interdisciplinary understanding.
