After graduating in Classics from the University of Birmingham, Sonja converted to Law. Thereafter, she qualified as a Solicitor, specialising in Commercial Litigation and Insolvency, and remains a practising Solicitor. Sonja moved into teaching in 2010, and has taught and assessed both academic and vocational modules to undergraduate and post-graduate students.

She also has significant experience in supervising students in a legal advice clinic setting.

As Director of Practice-Led Learning, she combines her teaching expertise with her extensive experience from practice to ensure students can apply their skills throughout their studies, thereby enhancing their employability.
