Ann is an accomplished higher education professional with an international academic and commercial background spanning China and the UK. She holds a Master of Laws (LLM, with Distinction) in International Trade and Commercial Law from Durham University, and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB, top grade) in Criminal Justice from Shanghai University. Following her postgraduate studies, Ann began her career in academic research at the International Merger & Acquisition Centre, Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, with publications in China on various legal topics.

She later transitioned into the commercial sector, where she gained eight years of extensive experience as Executive Assistant to CEOs within SMEs across London and the Northwest. This period strengthened her strategic thinking, organisational leadership, and contributions at senior level, before she returned to higher education and joined the University of Chester in 2019.

At Chester Business School, Ann has undertaken a wide range of academic and leadership responsibilities, including Co-Course Leader for BA Business Management, Course Leader for Business Management and Administration Top-Up course, Module Leader across Business Management and Banking & Finance courses, as well as Foundation School and International Collaboration Link Tutor. She is committed to high-quality teaching and providing continuous academic and pastoral support for undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Bilingual and bicultural, Ann brings a global perspective to her work and is highly experienced in supporting international students. Her areas of research include international student experience, student expectations and motivation, students as partners, and support for direct-entry learners. Ann has delivered talks and shared practices across these interconnected areas, alongside work on coaching-informed one-to-one student support, authentic assessment, and coherent assessment strategies that enhance student learning journey.

Ann is recognised for her inclusive, empowering leadership approach and for creating learning cultures grounded in trust, reflection, and shared responsibility.

A seasoned marketer and researcher, Dr Ogunmokun brings a strong blend of industry experience and academic rigour to his role at the University of Chester. He holds a PhD in Business Administration, with a focus on Corporate Social Responsibility, and has published in leading marketing and consumer studies journals.

He is currently involved in the Horizon Europe funded Reforms and Empowerment for Agri-food Competitiveness and Open Excellence (REACToe) project, a €5 million consortium with 15 partner institutions, contributing to collaborative research to strengthen sustainable agri-food systems and competitiveness. He is also a current recipient of the Cavanagh Scholarship, which supports his research into labour injustice in Northern Nigeria, focusing on structural inequalities in employer labour demand of informally educated youths.

Alongside his research, he serves as Deputy Course Leader for the MBA at the University of Chester, contributing to programme development and enhancement, and has been involved in teaching and curriculum development in Business Ethics and Marketing across universities on three continents, bridging academic insight with real-world business and ethical practice.

Trina joined the University of Chester’s Business School (CBS), in September 2016 and is a Senior Lecturer and Programme Lead.

She brings with her a wealth of experience in designing, leading and delivering quality learning experiences at Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels as well as over 25 years’ experience in teaching vocational subjects in the Business and Management sector.

Her engaging style, ability to champion entrepreneurial thinking and her passion for learning and growth has meant that she has been nominated by students and won several University of Chester teaching awards including Teaching Excellence and Outstanding Lecturer of the Year.

Trina is an active member of the CBS community, for example by sitting on the CBS Research Ethics Committee and is also part of the wider organisations Athena Swan Self Assessment Team (SAT).

Trina is also a business consultant with direct experience and a proven track-record as an industry practitioner with specialisms in training and development solutions and frameworks, people management and business development within private, public and third sectors. She has direct experience of managing and leading others, delivering change in challenging environments, working both at strategic and operational levels with teams, individuals and whole organisations to inspire and support them to achieve successful change, transformation and growth. Trina's organisation particularly focuses on creating, delivering and evaluating a range of interactive, impactful resources, programmes and solutions for individuals, groups and organisation facing changes and transition. Trina combines this practical, useful, real-life experience with academic models and thinking to help prepare University of Chester students for the world of work.

Vivian is a lecturer with the Accounting and Finance Division at University of Chester. She is currently the Course leader for Finance with Banking (BSc) and Banking and Finance (BSc) and saddled with the responsibility for its incremental value proposition and visibility. She has held positions as researcher and visiting lecturer with the Education and Children Services department and the Business and Management department respectively. She has over a decade experience working in commercial and business banking, rising to Manager level and cutting across ebusiness, banking operations, international trade, treasury, credit and business development. She is currently a certified External Examiner and Associate fellow from the Advance HE. She is passionate about continuous improvement that can influence process across work tasks, various life projects and the management of human behaviours.

Cheryl is Deputy Head of Division and Senior Lecturer at Chester Business School, where she holds a position within the Department of Management. Her expertise and influence extend throughout the Faculty of Science, Engineering, and Enterprise, reflecting her commitment to advancing education and research in these fields. With a comprehensive academic background, Cheryl completed her BA (Hons) in Business Management and further pursued her passion for business education by obtaining an MBA at the University of Chester. This solid foundation has fueled her career as a university lecturer, enabling her to provide students with a rich blend of theoretical knowledge and practical insights.

Cheryl is recognised for her dynamic and engaging teaching style, offering courses in Entrepreneurship, International Business, Leadership, and Management. Her classes are known for fostering critical thinking, creativity, and a global perspective among students. Through innovative pedagogical approaches, she equips her students with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in today's competitive business landscape.

Beyond the classroom, Cheryl is actively involved in various projects within the Business School. Her contributions extend to induction activities, providing students with a seamless transition into university life. Moreover, she plays a crucial role in the development of student experience and implementation of work-based learning initiatives, emphasising the practical application of academic concepts in real-world scenarios. She is a driving force behind entrepreneurial placement pathways, creating opportunities for students to gain hands-on experience and develop their entrepreneurial skills in a supportive environment. Her commitment to holistic education is further demonstrated through her organisation of business development events and trips, providing students with exposure to industry professionals and networking opportunities.

Luisa joined the University of Chester in September 2021 as a Visiting Lecturer, contributing to the delivery of several modules across the Divisions of Management & Accounting & Finance and Marketing & Professional Development. In this role, she has taught subjects including Human Resource Management (HRM) and Business Innovation Strategy.

In September 2024, Luisa was appointed Late Arrivals and Reassessments Coordinator for Chester Business School. In this position, she worked closely with a range of support services and Programme Leaders to plan and implement actions aimed at supporting late-arriving students in maintaining their academic progress and performance, while also providing guidance to students undertaking reassessments. This role concluded in January 2026 following a restructuring of services and academic responsibilities.

In addition to her teaching responsibilities, Luisa serves as an Assessment Officer, where she investigates cases of academic misconduct.

She also acts as an academic supervisor for Level 7 dissertations.

Professor Morven McEachern is Professor of Sustainability and Marketing Ethics at Chester Business School, University of Chester. Following various senior teaching and research roles, she has taught/led modules on research methods, consumer behaviour and social sustainability. With a specialist emphasis on food systems and place, her research revolves around sustainable/ethical production and consumption, including the impact of austerity and poverty. As an experienced PhD/DBA/MRes supervisor, she has capacity for doctoral supervision on areas relating to sustainability, ethics and consumption behaviour.

Fiona joined the University of Chester’s Business School part time in September 2019 and is Lecturer and Programme Leader for BA Hons Events and Festivals Management at University Centre Shrewsbury. She has worked in education and assessment for more than 30 years, with a specific focus on curriculum planning and assessment design in Travel and Tourism, and has worked with Ministries of Education and Tourism to deliver teacher training in Lesotho, Mauritius, the Maldives and Singapore. Fiona is a Principal Examiner and Lead Trainer with Cambridge, with responsibility for assessments in Destination Marketing and Place Branding. She has co-authored several textbooks on Travel and Tourism for Cambridge qualifications. Fiona taught Business and Travel and Tourism with a specialism in Marketing in Secondary and Further Education before joining the University of Chester.

Fiona also works part time in the Guildhall Library at UCS, as Assistant Liaison Librarian supporting the Business Management, Business Management with Psychology and Sport Management students and their lecturers with information literacy and literature searching for assignments.

Chris is a Lecturer in Management at the University of Chester Business School, where he plays an active role in shaping the next generation of business leaders. With a diverse background in further education, Chris has held key roles in curriculum development, programme leadership, and marketing, all of which have informed his approach to teaching and academic research. In his current position, Chris teaches across a range of undergraduate and postgraduate modules, including Strategic Management, Global Business, and Leadership, Development, and Change. His teaching philosophy blends theoretical frameworks with practical insights, empowering students to critically engage with contemporary business challenges and develop leadership skills essential for navigating complex organisational environments.

Chris also supervises postgraduate dissertations, providing valuable guidance as students embark on their own research journeys and contribute to advancing business knowledge. Chris’ research interests lie at the intersection of education and business. Drawing on his experience in further education, his research focuses on understanding the complex factors that influence teacher morale, professional identity, and the broader educational landscape. His doctoral work explores the marketisation of state education, examining how social class dynamics shape teacher professional identity and collegiality. Through this research, Chris aims to better understand how these elements impact both the experience of educators and the outcomes for students.

Beyond his teaching and research, Chris is committed to engaging with the wider community. He actively participates in outreach activities, working with local schools and colleges to inspire young people to pursue careers in business. Chris also supports student development through work-based learning, helping students gain hands-on experience and apply their academic knowledge in real-world settings.

Professor Cynthia Burek, the first chair of Geoconservation in the world, taught on a variety of courses within the department. She received the Halstead medal for her research and outreach work from the Geologists' Association in 2022 and was made an Honorary Member of the Quaternary Research Association in 2022. She has also received over £250,000 from the Welsh government for her joint assessment of RIGS sites which has subsequently been put into Welsh planning guidance.

Cynthia has published over 100 papers and given hundreds of talks and walks to society at all levels on geoconservation, how geodiversity underpins biodiversity, limestone pavements, women in science (especially in history of geology, but also raising public awareness), local geodiversity, soils and good science communication. She serves on several national committees to influence public policy on geoconservation. She has also appeared on several TV programmes including BBC Coast, with Julia Bradbury on BEst Walks with a view and the BBC4 radio programme Science Matters as well as several BBC Wales TV programmes and radio broadcasts.

My main interests are in habitat conservation, environmental issues, gender equality, local history, and sustainable development.

At present I am a research affiliate for the Institute of Gender Studies, and I was on the Athena Swann committee for the University. I was Deputy Director of the Centre for Science Communication and served on the University Health, Safety and Environment Committee putting Environment on a par with health and safety. I was chair of the Environmental Task Force for the University for 11 years. Nationally, I serve on the UKGAP (Geodiversity Action Plan) steering group, English Geodiversity Forum, Association of Welsh RIGS Executive as being former Chair of NE Wales Regionally Important Geodiversity Sites (RIGS). I am deputy chair of Cheshire RIGS and spearheaded the Heritage Lottery Fund 3-year project for the Saltscape landscape of Cheshire. I was also on the Stakeholders committee for the Irish Sea Conservation Zone, one of four marine areas set up by the government to designate marine conservation areas. Additionally, I was on the international steering group for limestone pavement habitat research. At present I am Director for the UNESCO GeoMôn (Anglesey) Global Geopark with the portfolio for education. I was also on the steering group for the Geoconservation Wales/Cymru Forum. I also served as Trustee for the Armoury Conservation Trust, (ACT) safeguarding stone buildings in Llangollen for 6 years.

I am a trustee and temporary Chair for the British Federation of Women Graduates Scholarship Fund and a trustee for the Funds for Women Graduates. I also serve on the assessment committee of Funds for Women Graduates. I was Chair/Convener of the Graduate Women International Fellowship (formerly the International Federation of University Women) committee awarding women across the world grants for the final year of their PhD for 12 years. 

I also act as external advisor for other institutions both nationally and internationally including China and New Zealand. For 37 years I was an associate lecturer for the Open University in Wales and NW England within the Earth Science department and within the multidisciplinary environment and sustainable development areas.

Athalia is a Course Leader and Lecturer in the Business Management Accounting and Finance Division at the University of Chester Business School, with expertise spanning entrepreneurship, innovation, leadership, and change management. Before joining the University of Chester, Athalia completed her Masters at Lancaster University and went on to co-found a social enterprise, developing a deep passion for social change through entrepreneurship. She has served as a Board member of several charitable organisations, including Young Enterprise, one of the UK's leading enterprise education charities, where she has supported student entrepreneurs to compete in national competitions and develop real business ventures.

Athalia is currently completing her PhD at the University of Chester Business School, investigating how Social Entrepreneurship Education equips individuals to initiate and grow businesses driven by a social mission. Her research is timely and policy-relevant, intersecting with the UK government's growing focus on the Impact Economy.

In her teaching, Athalia leads modules across undergraduate and postgraduate levels in areas including entrepreneurship, innovation, sustainable enterprise, and leadership. She is a strong advocate for authentic, industry-connected learning, coordinating a guest lecturer series that brings industry professionals into every core modules. She also designs and delivers course induction programmes for both undergraduate and postgraduate students, helping them transition confidently into the academic environment and make the most of the opportunities available within the Business School.

Ross Frisby is Deputy Head of Marketing and Professional Development, he is also the Programme Leader for BA (Hons) Sport Business Management. Ross has worked in higher education for over 25 years with a primary focus on leadership and performance management.
